New England Ballet Theatre Comes to Hartford
New England Ballet Theatre (NEBT) launched in January 2020. Co-founders Rachael Gnatowski and Emily Orzada told the Hartford Chamber of Commerce about why they formed the company and chose Hartford as a location.Tell us about your involvement in the Hartford community – and the impact you’re making here.NEBT: We’re a non-profit professional ballet company based in Hartford. Our goal is to be a guiding example of how the celebration of diversity and support of our artists can create cutting-edge new ballets that uplift, unite, and strengthen our community and beyond.Why did you join the Hartford Chamber of Commerce?NEBT: As a brand-new organization, we knew joining the Hartford Chamber of Commerce would bring NEBT valuable connections that will help us create the ballet company we envision.Why Hartford? How did you decide on the location for your business?NEBT: We see the need for art in the city of Hartford. The arts community is growing and we want to provide even more accessible ballet education and performances. We’d like to bring the joy of dance back to Hartford.Tell us about the neighborhood and what makes it unique.NEBT: Hartford has a very diverse population. We want the community to know that ballet is for everyone! Our goal is to make ballet accessible and affordable for everyone.
