Urban League of Greater Hartford to Host its Annual Trunk or Treat Event on October 25

Families in the Capital Area are invited to the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s fourth annual “Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This free outdoor event will take place in the parking lot of the Urban League’s office at 140 Woodland St. (corner of Woodland St. and Sargeant St.) in Hartford, Conn. Free limited parking will be available. (If rain, the event will be held one week later on Friday, November 1 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

“Community organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals will safely distribute prepackaged candy and treats from decorated cars and booths in a tailgate-style,” explains David Hopkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Hartford. “All ages are invited, and costumes are optional, with a 5:00 p.m. costume parade for everyone.” The nonprofit organization’s programs and operations impact more than 3,000 individuals and their families every year in the areas of youth development, adult education, workforce development, housing, community health, and social justice. No advance registration is needed to attend any part of this free annual Trunk or Treat celebration.

Children ages 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult. The event will feature a DJ and music from Hot 93.7, a children’s book giveaway, fitness activities, arts & crafts, and many games and prizes. There will be health demonstrations in the Urban League’s indoor Aeroponic Garden, and distribution of its fresh green leafy produce. Attendees will connect with a variety of local vendors, services, and community partner resources, and can Register to Vote the upcoming elections.
